Under the direction of a faculty sponsor and in collaboration with the program support team, the Oncology Nurse Navigator coordinates the care of patients through the disease process and acts as a clinical liaison for patients, across medical services and clinical departments.

Essential Job Functions:
- Assesses clinical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial, financial, and other patient needs.
- Facilitates resolution to patient needs and monitors follow up.
- Educates/reinforces education with patients and families on disease, treatments, side effects, adverse reactions, and reportable signs/symptoms based on multidisciplinary care plan.
- Coordinates discharge planning with the patient’s family, social workers, home nursing staff, oncologists, and personal physicians.
- Works with patients and family members to ensure discharge instructions are understood and followed.
- Develops and/or coordinates development of patient education materials, clinical pathways, and quality studies.
- Coordinates and/or participates in multidisciplinary consultations and/or tumor conference.
- Documents recommendations made at multidisciplinary consultations and/or tumor conferences.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a current Illinois license
- Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing with BSN

- Minimum of two years hematology/oncology clinical nursing experience with demonstrated clinical competence in patient care, teaching and management of patients with a cancer diagnosis, and knowledge about clinical aspects of oncology including protocol therapy and data management.

Job Summary
The Manager of Supply Chain Operations has financial and operational responsibility for the supply store room, JIT program, shipping/receiving, and courier services. Responsible for implementing cost savings through supply cost reduction, inventory optimization, and operational improvements. Ensures availability of supplies by maintaining an effective internal and external supply chain process. Position includes strong partnering and collaboration with medical, administration and clinical/nursing leadership. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Works with nurses, physicians and other UCMC staff to ensure departmental supply needs are met while reducing operational cost. Leads in the implementation of Lean practices including 5S, pull system, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) in managing this area to drive continuous improvement in all operational metrics.
- Manage JIT inventory process from distribution to various requesting locations. Achieve cost reductions through optimizing JIT supply orders.
- Provides effective communication to administration, faculty, management and staff to establish collaborative communication and understanding of the organization mission and strategic goals necessary to achieve operational goals. Meets regularly with other departments and direct reports to facilitate communication, goal setting and decision making.

Essential Job Functions
- Transports medications (excluding those medications handled through the pharmacy’s controlled substance distribution system), IV’s, TPN’s, Chemotherapy, medication cassettes, other pharmacy supplies and equipment to the nursing units and clinics. Adds patient specific and re-stock medications to the Omnicell machines located in patient care areas, except the sterile corridor of surgery. Returns discontinued and outdated medications from the Omnicells to the Pharmacy.
- Replaces CPR cart medications following Dr. Cart events. Transfers patient specific medications from the Omnicell on the discharged unit to the Omnicell on the unit to which the patient has been transferred.
- Rotates through all work areas of the pharmacy department, works as a team player to achieve pharmaceutical care for the patient, fills, first doses, restocks and patient specific medications from the carousels, performs monthly nursing unit, clinic and pharmacy area inspections as directed, maintains work areas (IV Room, UD Area, Manufacturing area, store rooms, pharmacy satellites) by restocking and cleaning as needed, answers phone calls
- Triages phone communication appropriately and according to policy, collects quality assurance data and maintains workload records as required, performs other patient and/or drug related duties within the legal scope of their licensure as assigned by the pharmacist and/or supervisor.
- Prepares medications and supplies for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist including: prepackaging bulk medications byfilling unit dose-specific syringes and vials of medications for both adult and pediatric patients, compounded oral suspensions and Grade One mouthwash. Compounds IV admixtures, chemotherapy, desensitization medications, high-cost biologics and pediatric IV’s and restocks CPR cart trays.

Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- IV room non-hazardous and hazardous compounding required
- Minimum of one year pharmacy experience, or
- Completion of an ASHP approved pharmacy technician vocational course, or student enrolled in a college of pharmacy or at the University of Chicago. Graduates of foreign pharmacy programs are also eligible for consideration.
