Job Description

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director of Supply Chain Operations & Logistics

 

The Director of Supply Chain Operations & Logistics has 24/7 responsibility for the operational and financial management, and improvement of all supply chain dock-to-stock operations for Ingalls Memorial Hospital and the rapidly growing UCM Ambulatory network.  The successful candidate will foster a team culture of continual, daily improvement through structured LEAN and problem-solving concepts and tools, including 5S, pull system (KanBan), MDI, and KPIs. The Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional organization leadership, supporting service department planning and business management activities to include Value Analysis Teams, MDI huddles, E4 (Kaizen) events, HICS events, project planning and policy development. 

 

Who you are:

The Director of Supply Chain Operations & Logistics is responsible for the overall supply distribution and inventory management for Ingalls Memorial Hospital and UCM Ambulatory network. The Director should be comfortable working independently, diving into analytics, as well as strategically leading the supply chain operations and logistics function.  The successful candidate will have a track record of notable results and a demonstrated commitment to process improvement with a pursuit for excellence.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.  Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Inventory, Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics and 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role
  • Knowledge or certification in state-of-the-art process improvement methods including Six Sigma or Lean; green or black belt certification strongly preferred
  • Track record of effective problem-solving techniques, including coaching others in effective problem-solving methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying and coaching “lean” concepts including process mapping, flow, Pull/KANBAN System, PDCA
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing critical recall/shortage management and emergency management procedures for supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, create reports, prepare and deliver oral presentations
  • Strong team building and employee engagement skills

  • Quickly establishes and maintains lines of communication in support of appropriate relationships among key stakeholders, while pinpointing new process initiatives vital to supply chain operations
  • Budgetary responsibility for department
  • Leads, develops and manages supply chain staff
  • Develops and implements best-in-class operations and long-range planning
  • Prepares and conducts internal and external presentations

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
