Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine, as a Clinical Nurse Educator (RN) in our Obstetric Department.

 

In this role, the Obstetrical Outreach Nurse Educator will provide Obstetrical educational programs for the University of Chicago Perinatal Network Hospitals in collaboration with the Neonatal Outreach Educator of the Perinatal Center based on identified needs and established standards of care. Must be able to travel to Network hospitals as required.  Maintains ongoing collaboration with the Perinatal Center Co-Directors, the Perinatal Grant Administrator, University of Chicago Obstetrics and Pediatric leadership groups, Network Hospital Unit Managers, and staff from other Perinatal Centers within the State of Illinois

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Educates professional staff within the perinatal network hospitals regarding comprehensive perinatal-obstetrical care
  • Develops individualized teaching programs (didactic, clinical, case studies, and simulation) for network hospital personnel
  • Participates in the monitoring and improvement of the Perinatal System which provides continuity of care for women and infants referred to the University of Chicago Medical Center to include the following activities: Quality Improvement Projects, assistance in maintaining monthly Perinatal Transport Statistics and Morbidity and Mortality review preparation and participation, conduct annual educational needs assessment
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation for standards of care, policies and procedures in the management of well and high-risk Obstetrical patients

 

Required Qualifications:

  • RN Licensure in the State of Illinois is required.
  • MSN in nursing is preferred; BSN Required
  • At least five years of Obstetrical nursing experience, two of which must be at a Level II or Level III Center
  • Obstetrical nursing and demonstrated nursing leadership skills are required.
  • Teaching experience required. Educational program planning and evaluation preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor status preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • NRP Instructor Status preferred
  • Specialty certification preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
