Student Radiology Assistant/Radiology Technologist

The Radiology Tech Assistant performs a wide variety of tasks to assist the Imaging Team in achieving the overall efficiencies within the Radiology Technical work areas. Their responsibilities include patient care, technical assistance, and visitor advocacy. Reports to the Imaging Center Manager with daily tasks as assigned under the direction of the Imaging Team Leader (ITL) and/or a Registered Radiology Technologist (RRT).

 

Responsibilities 

  • Maintains clinical professional appearance and is prepared to support patient workflow, including room turnover and helping to clean equipment before and after patient care.
  • Participates in in-service opportunities to become familiar with changes in clinical practice.
  • Meets required due dates for all compliance-related education. (via Absorb).
  • Supports pre-imaging exam clinical workflow and patient prep.
  • Assists in inventory management and restocking of supplies as needed. Reports concerns or issues as appropriate to the leader and/or documentation via ERS (event reporting systems).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • CPR certification in basic cardiac life support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including but not limited to departmental policies and standard work procedures.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring continuous physical effort.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Radiology/Imaging Program and anticipate graduating in 2026!

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
