Job Description

 

Radiology Technologist, PRN - Pediatrics

 

As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, apply principles of radiation protection, exercise professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures, and provide necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients
  • Performs imaging duties as assigned.

  • Positions the patient being tested to insure that proper image capture is achieved.

  • Selects proper technical factors.

  • Utilizes computer to record patient status.

  • Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality.

  • Assists physician in performing imaging studies.

  • Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists the physician.

  • Works independently in areas as assigned

  • Regards safety of patients as a priority in performing studies.

  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients.

  • Handles patient in conformance with all established safety procedures.

  • Process films and patient records in conformance with all established operational procedures.

  • Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures where appropriate.

  • Treats patients in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Instructs patient in exam procedures.

  • Is aware of and responsive to physical and psychological needs of patients under his/her care.

  • Maintains technical imaging equipment to be in proper working conditioned.

  • Reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate person

  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and neat.

  • Maintains an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies.

  • Participates in continuing educational programs to maintain and upgrade technical skills.
  • Maintains availability to accept assignment within a 24 hour notification period.
  • Performs other duties as requested by senior management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school.
  • Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required.

  • CPR certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
