Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Senior Medical Technologist in the Clinical Chemistry Lab. In this role as a Senior Medical Technologist you will perform Chemistry lab tests, operate state-of-the-art instruments, and conduct esoteric tests with current technology. Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and method development to support a broad menu of routine and esoteric tests, including diagnostic tests for infectious diseases and allergy identification. Operating within UChicago Medicine's Department of Pathology, we provide reference laboratory testing to various related and unrelated health care entities, managed care organizations and non-affiliated hospitals, outpatient clinics and private physicians' offices. We offer a full range of diagnostic services. In this role, you will provides specialized technical leadership to the Medical Technologists as the Manager’s designee and provide continued support for new procedures after implementation into routine diagnostic practice. You will adhere to and assist in enforcing policies and procedures to assure results of the highest level of quality to physicians and their patients.
Essential Job Functions
Required Qualifications
Must satisfy CLIA 88 qualification requirements for general supervisor who oversees testing personnel performing high complexity testing
Bachelor's or advanced degree in clinical laboratory science or related field, from an accredited college or university
At least three years prior work experience required for certified individuals with practical clinical laboratory experience or a minimum of six years of pertinent clinical laboratory work experience for non-certified individuals with a bachelor’s or advanced degree
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and graphical computer programs, automated coagulation systems and conventional laboratory equipment
Knowledge and ability to use laboratory and hospitals information systems
Ability to use and understand basic statistical concepts and methods that are commonly utilized in clinical laboratory science
Ability to interact in a professional manner with individuals at all levels
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to work in stress situations, and pay attention to details
Certification or eligibility as medical technologist, (MT) or specialist in Microbiology (M) through American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
