Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial as a Anesthesia Technician in the Peri-Op/Anesthesiology department. Here, you will assist in providing/supporting quality patient care for the surgical patients. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity.  You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

 

Under the direction of the Director, Surgical Services and the Chief Nurse Anesthetist, the Anesthesia Tech is responsible and accountable for the cleaning of anesthesia machines and accessories; cleaning and restocking of anesthesia supply carts; maintaining anesthesia equipment and supply inventories. Knows, follows, and actively supports the philosophy, mission, and Vision of Ingalls Hospital.  Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.  Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Participates in the preparation of the OR suite for admission of patients
  • Sets up anesthesia equipment/supplies prior to the patient admission to the OR Suite – replaces circuit, stock supplies, organize top of cart, etc.
  • Assists with attaching patient to required non-invasive monitors – SpO2, B/P, EKG, etc.
  • Assists anesthesiologist with the insertion of invasive lines, arterial, CVP
  • Assists with positioning patients for epidurals and blocks
  • Set up warming and humidifier systems for anesthesia machines as requested
  • Transport patients to and from the OR, PACU as needed
  • Assure proper identification of patients.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • BLS/CPR certification - American Heart Association accredited
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Anesthesia Technology preferred
  • Anesthesia Technician certification required within 6 months of employment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience as a Nursing Assistant in the OR/PACU is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
