Job Description

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as an ETL Programmer – Intermediate in our IT Enterprise Architecture department. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.   

   

Under general supervision, the ETL Programmer – Intermediate will solve complex BI and data analytics needs related to data acquisition, cleansing and delivering analytics, dashboards, and reports. Additionally, you will deliver projects and enhancement requests using traditional SDLC methodology; resolve production incidents, provide operational support, and develop plans to ensure compliance with SLA; and engage with business to understand system requirements and work with broader IT team to design and implement solutions.  

Essential Job Functions 

  • Perform data analytics, build reports and data extract scripts 
  • Setup/configure required monitoring and alerts to proactively monitor the health of Production Systems 
  • Review, understand and build solutions as per system requirements and overall solution design 
  • Perform quality checks to ensure deliverables meet business requirements 
  • Execute day-to-day development and support activities 
  • Adhere to IT standards and processes to ensure security and operational compliance 
  • Provide operational support and develop plans to ensure compliance with SLA 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant certification in programming, computer science and/or healthcare, business management or information systems  
  • 2+ years’ experience with systems analysis, programming in SQL, and RDBMS modeling 
  • 2+ years of hands-on ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) programming experience 
  • 1 year of experience in technical documentation writing 
  • Proven problem-solving skills 
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to partner with both business and technical team members 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills required 
  • Requires strong multitasking skills; must be a self-starter and able to deliver results on a proactive and independent basis 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 1+ years of Microsoft SSIS and BI tool experience (Business Objects, Tableau, Cognos, Google Analytics, etc.) 
  • Experience with Data Extractions using SSIS  
  • Healthcare experience 
  • Experience with large enterprise systems and large amounts of data 
  • Proficient with NoSQL database & Real-time data analytics 
  • Experience with Epic Clarity data

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
