Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Quality Analyst for the Transplant Institute.

 

The Quality Analyst is responsible for staffing departmental quality improvement activities, facilitating multi-disciplinary reviews/studies, data aggregation, analysis and reporting of performance improvement activities using accepted methodologies, including identification, measurement, analysis, and reporting of projects, indicators, and outcomes.  The Quality Analyst develops, utilizes, evaluates, and acts as a resource for data collection tools and methodology; databases; summary reports; balanced score cards and other reporting formats; and evaluative resources.  The Quality Analyst collaborates with interdisciplinary members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, other professional personnel, and support staff.  This position is accountable for assuring data source, accuracy, and integrity for reporting to internal departments and external agencies. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary personnel and medical staff to analyze data, interpret trends, and select methodology for quality improvement activities, using evidence-based resources.
  • Collects, analyzes, aggregates, trends, evaluates and presents data information to medical staff, department, and assigned committees for quality improvement.
  • Conducts performance improvement initiatives in accordance with the Performance Improvement Plan and Performance Improvement Council, such as leading interdisciplinary improvement teams, clinical effectiveness activities, etc.
  • Collaborates with finance, case management/utilization review, patient safety/legal and other departments to identify trends for performance improvement focus.
  • Prepares and communicates quality improvement reports for assigned committees, medical sections, and management groups.
  • Attends meetings and executes actions plans in accordance with meeting management best practices and assigned timelines.
  • Develops and utilizes tools to effectively communicate quality improvement information in a standard, user-friendly modality.
  • Uses balanced measures (clinical, operational/financial, service) to communicate progress of quality improvement information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of quality improvement methodology and accreditation standards and licensure regulations related to quality and safety.
  • Participates in external benchmarking activities.
  • Participates in patient safety activities, as assigned.
  • Serves as a role model and resource by presenting educational programs related to quality improvement measurement, analysis, and data presentation.
  • Participates actively as a member of assigned committees and provides information about quality improvement activities, including data aggregation, analysis, and summaries.
  • Acts positively and proactively as a change agent for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supports medical staff and department initiatives by following up on requested actions.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in industrial engineering, business decision support/statistical analysis or clinical associated health care field with strong statistical analysis.
  • Minimum of three years acute hospital experience, preferably as an analyst in quality/performance improvement or clinical effectiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including presentation, written, and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate with management, medical staff, and employees within the organization.
  • Knowledge and application of the principles of quality improvement including methodologies, data collection and analysis, and reporting.
  • Advanced ability to create and manage databases, Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Advanced ability to create summary reports that imbed statistical tools and charts.
  • Requires knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards, including JCAHO, CMS Conditions of Participation, IDPH, and others as needed.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
