Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine as a Quality Nurse Manager.

 

The position provides leadership and strategic perspective to the University of Chicago’s Practice Support Coach Team within the UChicago primary and specialty care network, including both employed and independent providers in our 7-hospital system. This role collaborates with physicians, care teams, and leadership to implement evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes. The Quality Nurse Manager will oversee reporting of manually abstracted quality data, and continuous process improvement efforts to optimize clinical performance within the network.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with network providers to establish best practices for care delivery and patient engagement and quality scores by leading performance improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. Educate independent practices on documentation standards for registry metrics extracted from the EMR (eCQM, etc.)
  • Support quality reporting for programs such as Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), commercial value-based contracts, and other accountable care initiatives. Ensure compliance with CMS, NCQA, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements related to quality, patient safety, and value-based care as required by payer contracts. Collaborate with payers, clinical and operational teams to drive patient-centered care improvements.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and network performance utilizing clinical and operational data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk.
  • Participate in Quality & Performance Committee, workgroups, and provider education sessions.
  • Maintain professional development and other job duties as assigned.
  • The Quality Nurse Manager will be a people manager with a minimum of 4 direct reports and possibly indirect reports with expansion. Oversight budget responsibility includes management of practice support coaches.

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality improvement, population health, or performance measurement within a healthcare setting. Experience working with a Clinically Integrated Network (CIN), Accountable Care Organization (ACO), or value-based care programs. Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to take complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Previous management experience preferred.

Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, Master of Science preferred
  • IL licensure required

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
