Job Description

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Chief Global and National Destination Programs Officer responsible for driving strategic initiatives and growth, overseeing operations and care coordination, managing financial performance, and leading marketing efforts at both the national and international levels.

 

The Chief Global and Destinations Program Officer will play a critical role in shaping The University of Chicago Health System growth nationally and globally, enhance its position in the healthcare industry, drive innovation, ensure patient-centered care coordination and experience for national and international patients in alignment with the domestic patient population.

 

Working closely with UCM Health System senior leadership, the Chief Global and Destinations Program Officer will serve as the leader for the health system’s international medicine program. The Chief Global and Destinations Program Officer will also oversee the strategy and growth of the national concierge medicine, manage Special Programs and support in care coordination for patients referred by university of Chicago and internal referrals within UCM Health System, UCM’s Remote Second Opinion Program (RSO), and the health system Interpreter Services. The Global and Destinations Program Officer will also promote the teamwork concept and performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with UCM Health System mission, vision, and values

 

Who you are: 

A transformational and collaborative health system leader with:

  • Master’s degree required. Degree in health services (D.P.H., M.P.H., or M.H.A.) or business administration (M.B.A.)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of significant career progression within healthcare operations/management, culminating in a senior management position
  • Demonstrated experience and success delivering excellent service, operational, and quality outcomes within a hospital setting
  • Multiple-language abilities are highly desirable
  • Proven experience driving business growth and expanding into new markets
  • Notable achievements in building partnerships with providers in a competitive healthcare market
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and managing P&L
  • Established track record in developing and executing successful strategic plans, preferably within the healthcare industry
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations, patient coordination, and industry trends
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization through strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Skill using and analyzing information systems to quickly recommend opportunities for optimization and efficiency

What you’ll do as the Chief Global and National Destination Programs Officer:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies for national and global patient programs, ensuring alignment with the UCM Health System overall mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Conduct market analysis, identify emerging trends, and assess competitive landscapes to drive strategic growth.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to identify growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, and innovative solutions to enhance UCM Health System national and global position.
  • Act as the strategy resource for negotiations and evaluations of international and national program UCM Health System transactions including partnership development opportunities.
  • Assist UCM Health System executive leadership teams throughout the system to identify or assess strategies to better meet patient needs and ensure effective market positioning, which create business development opportunities and also protect market share.
  • Oversee the operational aspects of National, Global, and Special patient programs ensuring efficient and effective coordination of services and optimal patient experience.
  • Implement performance metrics and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with participants, families, staff, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Enhance the quality, access, safety, and efficiency of national and international patients to and increase patient satisfaction with a focus on performance excellence and high reliability.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality service for people and families supported through the organization.
  • Promote the use and implementation of technology in order to streamline operations, facilitate communications, and optimize work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable UCM Health System policies and industry standards federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assume responsibility for the financial performance of national and global programs.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to ensure profitability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable growth.
  • Identify revenue-generating opportunities and manage profit and loss (P&L) for assigned programs.
  • Collaborate with both UCM Health System and BSD finance and accounting teams to insure seamless reporting, billing/collection for national and international patient revenue.
  • Develop and Execute marketing plans to enhance UC Health System brand presence at the national and international levels.
  • Collaborate with different UCM and and University of Chicago marketing teams to implement targeted campaigns, digital marketing initiatives, and public relations strategies to drive patient engagement and increase market share.
  • Monitor marketing performance, track ROI, and make proper changes to maximize visibility and patient conversion.
  • Act as resource for negotiations and evaluations of all major international and national program UCM Health System transactions including partnership development opportunities.
  • Represent UCM Health System in its relationships with national and international referral sources, associations, government agencies, and professional organizations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with national and international referral sources including, TPA, Insurance providers, Embassies, international hospitals, and national providers.
  • Direct the provision of consulting services in the areas of strategic and service line development, diversification, planning, analytics, satisfaction and the development and implementation of tools to communicate trends to senior leadership.
  • Lead multiple teams and exemplify the essence of a team player by demonstrating a collaborative approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
