Job Description

Join our world-class academic healthcare system in a newly created role as the Director, UChicago Medicine, Cancer Affiliate Network

 

We are seeking a visionary cancer services leader with a proven track record in clinical program growth, development and operations to move in the direction of One UChicago Medicine.  This Director will be a strategic partner to the Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer of Cancer Services as we bring together a strong group of affiliate organizations, community hospitals and oncologists, strategically located throughout the country. Our expanding network provides a unique opportunity for other organizations to collaborate with us as a major academic research center, while simultaneously building high-quality cancer care, cutting-edge research, and facilitating provider education programs. The aim is to improve quality, access, and outcomes for cancer patients in various locations.

 

Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer of Cancer Services, the Director is responsible for cancer services growth across the affiliate network and execution of our 5-year cancer strategic plan.  The Director oversees the network's administrative functions, ensuring effective operations, programmatic development, and strategic alignment with the network's mission and goals, while also focusing on building strong relationships with affiliated sites, driving revenue, and expanding the network's reach and influence.  The successful candidate should be comfortable working with clinical leaders at our affiliate sites, diving into the analytics, as well as strategically lead the operations and the development of cancer services across the affiliate network.

 

The Director leads network integration and executes on new cancer network ventures in collaboration with Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Cancer Services, Strategy and Business Development leadership, and affiliate leadership.

 

We anticipate this newly created role will involve approximately 20-25% travel.

 

Who you are: 

  • Master's degree required in healthcare related field, such as MSN, MHA, or MBA.
  • Ideal candidate will be a versatile, clinically-trained health system leader with 8+ years of operational and administrative experience, preferably from a cancer services role held in a large hospital setting. 
  • 7+ years in progressive leadership roles that demonstrate the ability to lead, balance and implement strategic projects with operational and financial discipline.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple large projects simultaneously and with ease using effective program management and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, present data, and draw conclusions by applying analysis techniques, using data to drive positive performance.
  • Engaging communication and collaboration skills that support effective relationships, including physician relationships and alignment.
  • Proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate effectively.
  • Experience using LEAN for performance improvement is highly desirable.

What you’ll do as the Director of UChicago Medicine, Cancer Affiliate Network:

  • Supports the Vice President of Cancer Services in developing the operational direction and vision for the future of the UChicago Medicine Cancer Affiliate Network.
  • Leads program, operational and financial planning for the cancer affiliate network.
  • Effectively guides network expansion and integration by working in collaboration with the Vice President of Cancer Services, the Strategy and Business Development team, Cancer Service Line physician leadership, as well as partners with UCM departments such as Continuing Education and Professional Development, Office of Clinical Trials, Finance, Marketing, among others to support network affiliates.
  • Develops and implements best-in-class operations across the UChicago Medicine Cancer Affiliate Network, including the development of budgets, financials and long-range planning processes leading to optimal effectiveness, service excellence and clinical quality.
  • Ensures the inclusion of patient safety, quality, and oncology specific accreditations by supporting network site leaders to achieve and maintain rigorous quality standards and specific accreditations including, but not limited to, CoC, QOPI, and NAPBC.
  • Execute 5-year cancer strategic plan by leading workgroups and holding teams accountable for growth with key performance metrics.
  • Foster efforts to positively impact the organization’s visibility, image, and relationship with its surrounding community.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
