Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine Care Network as a Registered Dietitian at River East in the Medical Weight Program.  

 

UChicago Medicine Care Network is seeking a passionate and skilled Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team at the River East Endocrinology Clinic. In this role, you will work under the direction of an Obesity Medicine specialist within the Section of Endocrinology to support patients in managing obesity and metabolic diseases.

  • Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy for patients with obesity and related metabolic conditions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nutrition care by performing the full Nutrition Care Process—including assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, intervention, and ongoing monitoring—for patients with complex or multiple medical conditions.
  • Provide age-appropriate nutrition education, identifying learning needs and barriers, and applying evidence-based counseling strategies to support behavior change. Develop or adapt educational materials as needed.
  • Calculate individualized nutrient needs and assess dietary intake to guide nutrition recommendations.
  • Develop and manage enteral and parenteral nutrition plans for medically complex or critically ill patients, as applicable.
  • Utilize electronic medical records and other digital tools to communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team and document care in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for Registered Dietitian I staff; provide guidance and oversight as needed.
  • Collaborate regularly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Precept dietetic interns, students, and interdisciplinary learners as assigned.
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in nutrition and dietetics, applying new knowledge to enhance clinical care.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Nutrition, Dietetics or other relevant major
  • Must either have an MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, and/or other relevant major or a specialty certification relevant to position (e.g. Obesity and Weight Management Certification, CDCES)
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration with successful completion of coordinated program, dietetic internship, or other experience approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education
  • Maintenance of RD status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) by accrual of 75 units of approved Continuing Professional Education every 5 years.
  • Three(+) years of clinical experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with patients and staff from diverse cultural, educational, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Computer literacy (minimum Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic)
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and relevant practice groups preferred
  • Experience with weight management medications preferred

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. You will be scheduled to work 100% at the River East campus.  The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday through Friday and we anticipate that you will not be scheduled to work on weekends. One designated day per week will be reserved for administrative tasks, which may be completed remotely.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
