Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a, Operations Mananger, Public Safety at our Hyde Park Location. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

 

The Public Safety Operations Manager is responsible for managing the operations and programs of the UCMC Public Safety Department to ensure the security and safety of patients, visitors, and staff members. Assists with the oversight and coordination of the Medical Center parking and transportation services.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages the day to day operations of the Public Safety Department to include parking and transportation
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to support and maintain a secure and safe environment
  • Directly responsible (with support from Human Resources) for employee engagement and people management processes including interviewing and selection, time and attendance approval, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations, employee development, employee retention, disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Investigates security related incidents, completes documentation and generates reports as appropriate
  • Serves as a liaison with UCPD, CPD and other law enforcement agencies
  • Conducts security risk assessments and manages the implementation of recommended mitigations
  • Ensures compliance with all related federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and institutional requirements; acts as a liaison to federal, state, and local agencies in matters affecting the Medical Center
  • Serves on various UCMC committees and workgroups
  • Collects and analyzes data and trends, leading efforts for continuous improvement in Public Safety operations
  • Directly manages supervisors. Indirectly manages public safety officers and public safety coordinators.
    Assists in the management and oversight of a $15 million operating budget

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of management or supervisory experience required
  • 5 years of public safety or private security experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
