Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as an IMH EMS Coordinator in the EMS Department. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. 

 

The Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating educational and functional aspects of the EMS system per our program plan. The scope of this role includes evaluation and monitoring of pre-hospital care in our designated system defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Ensure Ingalls Memorial exceeds all requirements for IDPH designation as the Resource Hospital within the EMS system.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Participates in research, planning and implementation of EMS educational programs
  • Participates in the evaluation of program objectives
  • Assists in planning and implementing continuing education for all EMS professionals within the system
  • Ensure the functional aspects of the EMS system are met according to the EMS program plan
  • Audits all participating entities in the EMS system to our EMS program plan and IDPH administrative code
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or EMT-P with Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health or similar
  • At minimum 5 years of experience in emergency care with at least 3 years in EMS.
  • Educated in the principles of National EMS Education Standards.
  • Must have a diverse background in emergency care including critical care standards.
  • Prior experience in program management and directing teams is required
  • Registered Nurse with previous EMS experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • EMS Lead Instructor
  • TNCC (if RN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
