Job Description

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as an Organizational Change Readiness Manager on our Office of Technology Change Management team. This is primarily a work-from-home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed.        

 

The Organizational Change Readiness Manager is responsible for leading the execution, delivery, and integration of organizational change management solutions across IT. This role will work with UCM senior leadership, UCM IT leadership, UCM project teams, and third parties/vendors. A key objective of this role is to support, plan, and deliver organizational change management capabilities for IT initiatives and corresponding business workflows/processes to achieve IT strategic priorities. This position will design and develop standard OCM tools and drive the adoption of change management throughout project lifecycles. In this role, the individual will build relationships across all areas of the organization to effectively lead and facilitate change management and adoption activities, through existing governance structures and operational teams. The role will partner closely with UCM operational leaders to support change transformation across the enterprise. The primary responsibility will be applying change management processes and tools that maximize employee adoption and minimize resistance. In addition, the Organizational Change Readiness Manager is responsible for working with other leaders to support the IT portfolios that include project/program initiation activities, project/program budget management, and risk and issue mitigation.

The Organizational Change Readiness Manager will have exceptional management and leadership skills, and have a very strong strategic focus, enabling the change adoption of the next generation of IT solutions.   

   

Essential Job Functions  

Organizational Change Management Leadership:  

  • Apply change management processes and tools to support adoption of the changes required for key initiatives  
  • Participate and engage in project meetings, workshops, and design sessions as needed to collect information required to make key decisions and provide input  
  • Resolve OCM related issues and mitigate risks; for those that cannot be mitigated directly, escalate to UCM OCM leadership 
  • Collect lessons learned throughout the project and apply lessons learned to best practices in change management 
  • Assess change impact and validate a plan to proactively communicate and address the impact of change 
  • Engage in the development of innovative change management activities to apply across all IT functions 
  • Maintain visibility of the interdependencies, project plans, assumptions, risks, and issues with regards to the change  
  • Work closely with project managers on scoping, timelines, and budget for large-scale projects 

 

Organizational Change Management Activity Execution 

  • Assess organizational culture and behaviors 
  • Defines and measures metrics of success and change progress 
  • Lead project teams in integrating change management activities into their project plan 
  • Develops and maintains all OCM tools, templates, and processes. 
  • Support OCM through project lifecycle 
  • Lead execution of OCM activities, which include the following: 
  • Create Change Plan 
  • Execute the change strategy & change plan 
  • Perform stakeholder analysis & stakeholder interviews 
  • Perform Business Readiness Assessment 
  • Develop a plan for interfacing with business SMEs on a cadenced basis 
  • Validate/Update stakeholder readiness tools and surveys 
  • Execute readiness surveys 
  • Take corrective action based on results of surveys 
  • Perform a high-level impact assessment 
  • Perform a detailed change impact assessment and track results 
  • Mitigate change impacts as necessary 
  • Validate the approach for mobilizing the change network 
  • Mobilize and facilitate the change network 
  • Plan Office Hours; At the Elbow 
  • Plan for the transition to business as usual 
  • Continue managing adoption and adoption risks 

Relationship Building and Communication: 

  • Establish relationships with key business partners and leaders to increase engagement across enterprise 
  • Participates as an extended staff member in operational planning and status meetings 
  • Acts as a liaison across various UCM groups and represents and communicates IT change management updates and status to various operational stakeholder groups 
  • Performs other duties as requested by manager, PMO leadership, and CIO 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • BS/BA degree required; MBA or MHA preferred 
  • Five or more years of hands-on and management experience in organizational change management 
  • Three or more years in Information Technology or Healthcare industry 
  • Strong analytical and time management capabilities required; must have the ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time, as well as the ability to stay focused on key business strategies and deliverables 
  • Practical knowledge and experience with Prosci methodology 
  • Proven track record as a leader and as someone that can support an organization and a high-performing program and team 
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications, leadership, supervision and interpersonal relationships 
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with customers and end users, especially senior leadership 
  • Attention to detail, the ability to organize, document, and delegate tasks and coordinate projects 
  • A deep understanding of organizational change management and leading change initiatives 
  • Direct hands-on and management experience in healthcare operations and knowledge of how to address those issues with IT or digital solutions  
  • A clear track record of increasing responsibility  

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prosci Change Practitioner certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
