  • Monitoring clinical, biochemical, and anthropometric parameters to assess response to therapy and ensure patient safety.
  • Providing nutrition education to patients, caregivers, and health professionals, including PN and enteral nutrition (EN) administration training for home use.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice implementation related to nutrition support.
  • Providing content-expert assurance of compliance with institutional policies and professional standards of nutrition support therapy.
  • Supporting transitions of care, including coordination of home PN or EN, discharge planning, and follow-up. Including close collaboration with care coordinators, home health, outpatient pharmacies, and durable medical equipment companies.
  • Providing general nursing support in both in-patient and out-patient settings to gastroenterologists with specialization in adult clinical nutrition.
  • Participating in professional education through delivery of lectures and hands-on didactic activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an NLN-accredited school of nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience in a medical/surgical setting, with at least 1 year in an inpatient setting.
    • Experience in Surgical or Medical Oncology, Gastroenterology, IV Certification, Chemotherapy certification and or Oncology Nurse Certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, clinical judgment, and autonomous decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication, team collaboration, and patient-focused service skills.
  • Strong organizational ability to manage complex, high-acuity patient caseloads.
  • Competence in peripheral blood drawing and IV insertion.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and hospital information systems.

Required License/Certifications:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the State of Illinois.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Resuscitation (BCLS) certification.
