Job Description

We’re hiring for a Patient Service Coordinator for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Illinois!

 

The Patient Service Coordinator (PSC), under the director of the Administrative Manager and Supervisor, will be responsible for providing high volume customer service and clerical support to coordinate and facilitate patient care within the units. The position requires the ability to interact with patients, their families, physicians and other healthcare team members within the unit.

The Margaret M. and George A. Stephen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Comer Children's Hospital is among the largest in the Midwest, with approximately 1,000 admissions every year. Our NICU features 47 designated tertiary care beds (Level III) and 18 convalescent (Level II) beds. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can be provided for up to three infants at a time by a special group of ECMO specialists who supplement the NICU nursing staff.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one year of general office experience, preferably in a medical/clinical setting
  • Good written and verbal communication, organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively, uses discretion and good judgment, and maintains patient confidentiality
  • Must be able to independently and professionally interact with customers, internal and external to the Hospitals
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, ability to learn and utilize applicable software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Business courses preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
