Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine, as a System Business Continuity Manager in the Business Continuity department. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.  

  

The System Business Continuity Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing UCM’s business continuity plans. The incumbent will conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and manage business continuity software to ensure that the health system’s critical functions can continue during and after a disruption. In addition, the incumbent will lead and facilitate training and drills to ensure health system and staff preparedness for disruptions. 

 

Essential Job Functions   

  • Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) with health system department heads to identify critical functions for each department, potential impact and workarounds for various disruptions 
  • Coordinate with health system department heads to develop and implement continuity strategies and recovery procedures that are documented in comprehensive business continuity plans and align with disaster recovery plans 
  • Manage business continuity software to ensure all business continuity plans remain up to date 
  • Assist with the revision and development of downtime procedures for each department within the health system  
  • Facilitate business continuity and emergency management drills and trainings for health system staff to ensure preparedness 

 

Required Qualifications    

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, emergency management, or related field of study 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business continuity or emergency management, preferably within a healthcare setting 
  • Experience conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and managing business continuity software 
  • Exercise development and facilitation experience 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to project plan and work well independently and in a team environment 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills 

 

Preferred Qualifications   

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
