Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Laboratory Outreach Representative in the UC Med Labs Department.  Here, you will be responsible for providing high-quality service to laboratory outreach clients, physicians, and staff in a fast-paced environment.  From routine testing to highly specialized testing, we provide testing in 28 areas, including 16 anatomic, 9 clinical, and 4 genomic and molecular specialties by over 300 rigorously trained staff. In this role, the Laboratory Outreach Representative will become an expert in the management of client relations and serve as a primary liaison between clients and the UChicago laboratory staff.  This Department is the UC Med Lab.  This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

 

The Laboratory Outreach Representative under the direction of the Laboratory Outreach Manager is responsible for supporting successful client engagements with UChicago Medical Laboratories customer segments. The primary purpose of the representative is to develop and maintain current clients and ensure their satisfaction with UChicago Medical Laboratories services. They will partner closely with physicians, nurses, practice administrators, office managers, and office staff to ensure strong communication, collaboration, and issue-resolution channels are established in support of client service delivery.  The Representative will handle client inquiries and resolutions that span the relationship from point of contact to payment of services.  Including but not limited to onboarding of clients, specimen transport success, supply distribution, courier service partnership, Outreach portal proficiency and assist in the collection of outstanding payment for services.   Success in this role requires a collaborative and results-driven approach to establish and maintain strong relationships with Outreach clientele.  This position is key in creating new and maintaining existing external client relationships in alignment with organizational goals. 

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Support for the Laboratory Outreach Program and its development per Business plan directives and initiatives
  • Provides assistance for laboratory planning and educational activities
  • Communicates with members of the Laboratory Management team concerning physician issues and testing needs
  • Uses critical thinking skills to resolve problems
  • Collaborates across internal teams and disciplines such as physicians, nurses, practice administrators, office managers, and office staff to ensure awareness, alignment, and strong relationships
  • Maintains communication with existing clients and brings service issues to the attention of the Laboratory Outreach Manager
  • Identifies real or potential situations, investigates, and attempts to resolve working with the outreach management team
  • Provides new client setup presentations along with necessary training to current and new customers; such as 4medica, specimen collection, billing, etc
  • Upsell current book of business by presenting new testing performed at UChicago Medical Laboratories to increase organic growth

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Administration or Sciences
  • Two years of account management specific to physician office, hospital, or healthcare market
  • Experience using sales contact management systems as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Must be willing to learn and use the Laboratory Information System(s)
  • Must be well organized, tolerant of ambiguity, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Problem-solving and/or Project Management experience
  • Collections experience

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
