Job Description

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Director of Ambulatory Operations. The Director will have operational oversight of our Flossmoor Family Care Center as well as regional oversight of several other primary care clinics at Tinley Park, Calumet City, Homewood, Lansing, South Holland, and Beverly.

 

The Director of Ambulatory Operations will be the administrative lead for the operational and financial performance of multiple ambulatory practices, clinics, locations, and service lines across Southwest Chicago. This leader will have management accountability through the supervision of leaders at their clinics and will collaborate with other respective medical, administrative, and service line leaders. The Director will execute strategic plans to expand the health system, ambulatory, and physician network to ensure access in new and existing markets and focus on clinic optimization and integration of care across the system. The Director will utilize E4 Leadership principles to lead, manage, and improve in a consistent manner that embraces UChicago Medicine Ingalls’ patient-centered care and service excellence standards. In addition to providing operational oversight, this individual will be a key collaborator with all clinical departments across the system and a thought leader in ambulatory quality and safety, coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions, metrics reporting, customer service, and process improvement.

 

Who you are:

An experienced, inspirational, and motivational clinical operations leader with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience overseeing an ambulatory practice framework
  • Demonstrated ability working and communicating effectively with physicians and clinical leaders in a highly matrix environment
  • Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality, effective leadership team
  • Proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive performance improvement
  • Experience using LEAN for performance improvement desired

What you’ll do as the Director of Ambulatory Operations:

  • Support consistent and efficient day-to-day operations for multiple practices, clinics and service lines across Southwest Chicago ensuring access, budget and experience goals are achieved.
  • Maintain operational oversight of several 24/7 teams including registration and Flossmoor’s Urgent Aid center.
  • Partner with clinical leaders over key specialties including, but not limited to lab and imaging, infusion, transplant, and audiology services.
  • Oversee supportive services such as supply chain, EVS, security, clinical engineering, etc.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a leadership team that collaborates with department, section, hospital, and ancillary stakeholders to achieve quality, service, and financial outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with revenue cycle and finance department teams to assign accountability and optimize workflows and financial performance.
  • Monitor, report, and analyze clinic performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure performance improvement, compliance/risk management, and regulatory/patient safety functions are developed, implemented, evaluated, and maintained across all areas of responsibility.
  • Include the development and adherence to emergency response protocols unique to each site/service.
  • Manage hospital-based and non-hospital-based services according to federal, state and organization regulations.
  • Responsible for provider onboarding, credentialing, and integration.

Must comply with UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital’s COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine Ingalls is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
