Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Neurology/Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit. As the Inpatient Neurology ICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will manage a diverse population of neuro-critical care patients, including a significant volume of both blunt and penetrating neuro trauma cases. You will leverage your expertise in critical neurological conditions to care for critically ill adults with a wide range of neurological and multi-system disorders. As a member of the Neuro-Critical Care team, the APP will collaborate with emergency services, inpatient units, and other critical care areas throughout the hospital.
This role also offers the unique opportunity to work on the Neuro-ICU Consult Service, caring for critically ill patients whose primary pathologies are non-neurological but who develop acute brain or spinal injuries. Additionally, the APP will have the chance to participate in a dedicated post-critical care clinic, providing continuity of care for patients transitioning out of the ICU.
Attending physicians conduct frequent rounds and are always available to discuss cases and treat patients.
