Job Description

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Senior Consultant, Workforce Development and Strategy in our Talent Strategy & Experience department.    

The Senior Consultant, Workforce Development and Strategy is responsible for the development and execution of a workforce development and internal mobility strategy, specifically engaging local talent and front-line employees for career development. This role will implement actionable programs to build diverse talent pipelines and support the internal development of our front-line workforce to advance into targeted, in-demand jobs at UChicago Medicine. The Sr. Consultant will identify, cultivate, and oversee relationships with community partners, local educational institutions and professional associations and organizations to increase our diverse talent pools and promote opportunities at UChicago Medicine.  

The Senior Consultant will lead the operations of career pathway programs and manage the activities around workforce development initiatives. The Sr. Consultant will also oversee the fundraising strategy to support the maintenance and growth of pathway programs and workforce development efforts. This role will be responsible for the tracking and monitoring of community, diversity, and internal hiring analytics throughout recruitment and employee lifecycle. Responsible for reporting diversity metrics, analyzing trends and adjusting strategies/activities to improve results. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with key educational institutions and professional diversity-focused associations to develop diverse and student talent pools to support hard to fill positions and increase diversity hiring across gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ, people with disabilities, veterans, and other types of diversity and support 
  • Support the development of internal mobility strategy to promote the advancement of front-line employees into in-demand jobs and career pathways 
  • Provide project management and program management of workforce development initiatives 
  • Manage operational needs of current and future workforce development initiatives, which include but are not limited to planning and organizing activities related to clinical rotations, externships, internships, coordinating job shadowing, screening applicants, scheduling and conducting interviews, assisting in developing program guidelines and orientation schedules, job placement, coordinating training, planning, and attending organized events 
  • Lead the acquisition and management of fundraising sources to support the development and growth of talent pipeline programs.  
  • Support preparation of any grant’s submissions for the creation of internal and external pipeline development programs 
  • Partners in the development and maintenance of various external and internal recruiting strategy materials, which include social media tactics, communication templates, educational materials, forms and reports 
  • Track and monitor community, diversity, and internal hiring and promotion metrics, and support the reporting on HR and organization led diversity and development goals and objectives 
  • Performs other duties assigned 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree a plus 
  • 5+ years of experience in a role requiring consultation and influence skills, within community engagement and/or recruiting 
  • Prior experience in workforce development is required 
  • Previous experience in end-to-end project management, including project planning, coordination, delivery, reporting, and evaluation is required 
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized with the highest level of quality standards 
  • Goal-driven with the ability to proactively take initiative 
  • Comfortable working with minimal direction and comfortable with ambiguity 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team skills 
  • Ability to quickly build trust-based relationships with candidates, colleagues and internal/external stakeholders 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize them, and carry them out independently

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
