Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine, Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Retina Vascular Clinic at our Harvey, Illinois location. 

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Retina Vascular Clinic provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a physician. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the clinic while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, and administering medications as directed.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including injections, laser treatments, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions, medication regimens, and disease management.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes to the physician.
  • Triage patient calls and respond to inquiries.
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Assist with the ordering and inventory of medical supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with clinic workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • BLS through AHA required, ACLS preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Experience in ophthalmology or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ophthalmic medications and procedures is a plus

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
