Radiation Therapist, Days, Registry

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Crown Point, located in Crown Point, Indiana as a Registry Radiation Therapist in our Radiation Oncology Clinic. UChicago Medicine is an integrated academic and community health system with multiple primary medical facilities within the surrounding suburbs of Chicago.  UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a new two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana for what will be the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana.

In this role, under the general supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, the Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation and participates in the planning of patients receiving radiation therapy.

Essential Job Functions:

• Support medical center and department policies
• Perform initial set-up checks, chart QA for new set-ups, & maintain consistency in daily setups
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Perform simulation and treatment procedures
• Assist with training and evaluation of radiation therapy students
• Ensure adherence to patient safety standards
• Participate in the evaluation of treatment devices
• Participate and support department QA and QI initiatives
• Adhere to Radiation Protection guidelines at all times
• Attend staff meetings and department in-services
• Maintain compliance with medical center and regulatory agency standards in regard to annual training, infection control, and credentialing requirements
• Support the team concept and departmental goals
• Performs other duties as requested by senior management

Required Qualifications: 

• A completed high school diploma or GED from an accredited educational body 
• The satisfactory completion of a formal radiation therapy program from an AMA approved educational body
• Certification from the American Registry for Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or be eligible to sit for the board exam
• Indiana License
