Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Stock Clerk at our Hyde Park Location. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

 

 

As a part of the Operating Room Supply Chain, the Stock Clerk, Sr. role is to perform inventories, data entry for supply requisitions, accept and verify supply deliveries, conducts expiring audits of supplies, stock room location management, and distribute, organize/maintain supplies for use in the general peri-operative areas. With these responsibilities, the Stock Clerk, Sr. acts as a resource for information pertinent to all supplies kept in the peri-operative areas of The University of Chicago Medical Center.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Answers the phones in assigned areas to assist customers with a positive tone. Demonstrate a customer centric approach and a willingness to assist.
  • Accepts, uncrates/unpacks, receives, stores or re-shelves and distributes daily shipments of stock from outside vendors, internal sources, or any procurement method used to obtain stock to the appropriate inventory locations.
  • Demonstrates basic skills using Microsoft office. Performs overstock reviews and supports supply chain materials management efforts to reduce inventory on hand. Performs data entry of supplyorders into the automated materials management information system.
  • Monitor and maintain established par-level for supplies in the all sterile peri-operative areas of the UCMC, report variance to the supervisor. Recommends product purchases based on reorder points, min/max levels and par levels; recommends additional supply orders based on surgical activity or in response to clinical staff requests. Support staff members in accessing supplies, and inventory information. Replenishment process may include, but not limited to Kanban and/or Barcode.
  • Audits/verifies shipments for correct units received, matching all shipments with packing lists sent with shipment and/or purchase orders generated from the automated materials management information system and reporting any discrepancies to supply chain supervisor.
  • Accesses automated materials management information system to identify stocking location for products received as needed. Under supervision of the supply chain supervisor, performs automated receiving tasks.
  • Communicate daily with management personnel regarding issues or outages. Notify supply chain supervisor of all discrepancies on items ordered and not received. Replenish out of stock conditions within scheduled route.
  • Attend daily MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement) huddles to discuss work area, metrics, and schedules. Attendance is mandatory for all MDI huddles. Performs other duties assigned.

 

Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively; orally and in writing.
  • Be able to demonstrate basic skills in excel.Ability to perform or to accept and apply training to perform, at a level of average proficiency or above
  • computer related tasks relating to data input in a menu-type materials management information system
  • Basic user in Microsoft Excel and Access programs

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with hospital/surgical supplies
  • Operating Room, SPD and Supply chain experience strongly preferred 
  • Customer Service experience 
  • Prior expeirnece working with a forklift
