Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine as a Social Worker in our Oncology Clinics in Hyde Park. 

 

Eligible for a Sign on Bonus up to $1,500!

 

Oncology Social Workers are uniquely equipped to help with the social, emotional and environmental problems that may come with a cancer diagnosis. An oncology social worker provides emotional support to patients and families affected by a cancer diagnosis and help in accessing practical assistance.  Come join our team of committed quality-focused professionals!

Essential Job Functions

  • Psychosocial and Safety Assessments
  • Assistance in completing Advanced Directives
  • Assistance with end of life needs, hospice and palliative care
  • Crisis intervention
  • Information regarding eligibility for disability or other government benefits
  • Supportive counseling around adjustment to illness, hospitalization, and/or outpatient care
  • Promote access to hospital and community resources including transportation, support groups, home services, financial assistance, local lodging and behavioral health.
  • Close communication/collaboration with oncology providers and other ancillary services.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a School of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • Self-motivated, organized and comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • A Collaborative, solution-focused, team player to help facilitate patient’s

treatment adherence and contribute to institutional goals

  • Previous clinical social work experience in a health care setting of at least one year
  • Licensure in Illinois

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Previous clinical social work experience in a medical setting
  • Adult Oncology Experience
