At UChicago Medicine, we bring the world’s most innovative approaches to patients with all conditions, from common to complex. The University of Chicago Medicine is designated as a Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, meaning the hospital is prepared to handle the most seriously injured trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This department is an 24 bed unit split into two sides the north and the south with 12 beds on each side. We are the second largest unit and have a free-floating charge nurse. MICU is the only inpatient unit with a tier 1 score for employee engagement for three consecutive years.
The Patient Care Manager has the responsibility and accountability with the Nursing and Medical Directors for planning, organizing and directing of all activities related to patient-centered care, fostering nursing excellence and the retention and recruitment of staff on a designated unit in the care center.
