Job Description

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as Director, Population Health & Community Connect for the Information Technology department.  This is a position where the majority of work will be conducted remotely; however, it will be necessary for you to be onsite approximately one day per week for leadership (IT, Operational and Affiliate) meetings and project milestones.  The IT Director, Population Health & Community Connect is responsible for developing and directing the operation of UChicago Medicine’s Population Health Application Portfolio and the Epic Community Connect Program under the direction of the Executive Director of Clinical Applications. The Director will provide best practices in application planning, development, and maintenance to UChicago Medicine clinicians, users and affiliates. The position is responsible for population health applications including Arcadia & Epic, as well as the utilization of applications under UCM’s Community Connect offering.  The Director is responsible for organization, control, and management of the IT staff assigned to these initiatives.

 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business management or information systems is required
  • Twelve or more years of experience in healthcare application experience
  • Five or more years in a senior IT management position with responsibility for Population Health or Community Connect.
  • Previous experience with Arcadia strongly preferred
  • Certification in Epic modules supporting Population Health, Community Connect, Affiliate Support, Data Integration, and/or Data Exchange strongly preferred
  • Experience with multiple software applications, systems analysis/design, Integration/design, or web applications/design
  • Must have issue tracking and resolution skills
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing presentations for project work
  • Capable of working well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams
  • Solid skills in documenting and analyzing business processes
  • Proven skills in problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations 

What you’ll do as the Director, Population Health & Community Connect:

  • As a vital part of the IT leadership team, you will have direct responsibility for management of the Population Health & Connect application groups, and cross-functional responsibilities to ensure all of IT develops into a “best-in-class” organization
    • Understand and forecast business needs, and proactively developIT strategies and roadmaps under the direction of the Executive Director of Clinical Applications
    • Establish service level agreements with operational and clinical leaders; and exceed expectations so as to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction
    • Perform personnel administration tasks including managing, evaluating, and developing staff to high standards
    • Assist Executive Director of Clinical Applications in development of annual budgets, resource planning, and communications
  • Responsible for IT project assessment, deployment and post live maintenance in the Population Health & Community Connect spaces:
    • Evaluate new applications, facilitate demonstrations, and gather feedback
    • Partner with operational executives in developing budgets, pro formas and KPIs
    • Identify IT deliverables and resourcing needs
    • Present project discovery outcomes to executive leadership in IT Governance forums
    • Oversight of new Community Connect site roll-outs
    • Oversight of new software implementations, integrations, and data ingestion
    • Oversight of Incident & Problem resolution
    • Oversight of application enhancements and routine maintenance
    • Managing vendor relationships and contracts
    • Managing Affiliate (Connect Site) relationships
