Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Violence Recovery Specialist III.
The Violence Recovery Specialist- Level III (VRS III) position part of the Violence Recovery Program (VRP), a hospital-based violence intervention program that provides support to those affected by community violence.
Specifically, the VRS III will engage families upon arrival at the University of Chicago Medicine emergency department to provide crisis intervention and advocacy services and/or provide supportive case management post-discharge at the community and outpatient level. The VRS III will act as a liaison to community/neighborhood based organizations centered on violence prevention, recovery and interruption.
Engagement will primarily consist of phone calls, hospital engagement and community visits when appropriate on case by case basis.
This can be a fast paced position wearing many hats in a complex healthcare environment where you may be interfacing with a surgeon, police officer and university student shortly after providing acute grief support to a family member then attending a community partner meeting in the same shift. You will see violent injuries and surgical procedures up close in our emergency department which can be emotionally difficult. Strong crisis intervention and case management (including being skilled in timely documentation) skills while maintaining a compassionate stance and team oriented attitude are strongly desired for this role.
This is a hybrid position.
