Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as Community Health Worker Volunteer Coordinator.

 

The Community Health Worker Volunteer Coordinator will work across UChicago Medicine (UCM) to address social determinants of health (conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, etc. that affect a wide range of health outcomes and risks), and support inpatients at UCM with self-managing health conditions and adopting improved health behaviors. The coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer Services team to advance volunteerism at UCM. They will oversee the volunteer onboarding process for all volunteers/interns/shadows, manage support volunteer programs, and maintain administrative duties for the department.

 

Primary Job Functions:

  • To proactively engage targeted inpatient populations around health issue areas. This requires the individual to understand the health issue areas and be an effective communicator to reach the underserved population.
  • Manage the intake and preliminary screening of all volunteers including processing applications, inviting, and scheduling interviews.
  • Maintain and audit volunteer database, keeps excellent records of volunteer status, notes, and annual requirement completion.
  • Oversee the volunteer intern program including approving positions, processing all applications, requirements, and record keeping.
  • Responsible for Shadowing Experiences for medical center including processing applicant paperwork and communicating expectations and policies to applicant and sponsor.
  • Manage Support Volunteer Programs including Clerical, Spiritual Care, Southside Occupational Academy, and Special Group
  • Processing of invoices and monthly accounting reports. Prepares and updates reports and upholds confidentiality regarding financial information.
  • Attend local, statewide, and national membership meetings, conferences, and retreats (i.e. AVR, AHVRP).
