    Lead Physicist at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Little Company of Mary Hospital, the Cancer Service Line department, Full Time Days, University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago, IL 


    Join one of the nation’s most renowned academic medical centers, University of Chicago Medicine, in an independent and patient-focused role as the Lead Physicist within the UCM Comprehensive Cancer Center at Little Company of Mary Hospital.  This Physicist will oversee all dosimetry and QA testing responsibilities in a facility that offers radiation therapy techniques not typically available in a community setting.     In this role, the Physicist is responsible for providing comprehensive, efficient, effective and safe radiation oncology physics support which includes quality assurance testing, dosimetry, and calibration of radiation therapy equipment, efficient and effective equipment management, 3D external beam treatment planning and special physics procedures, implementation of new clinical procedures and technology including image guided radiation therapy, supervision of dosimetry and other technical staff, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, standards, and codes of practice, and contributes to training and education within the Service.


    The Physicist will join and collaborate with a group of physicists at other UCM sites. The UCM Comprehensive Cancer Center at Little Company of Mary Hospital has a Varian TrueBeam accelerator with OSMS, Varian Aria OIS/R&V, Philips Pinnacle3 and Varian Eclipse TPS, and a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT.


    Lead Physicist Education and Experience Requirements

    • Must have achieved a Master’s of Science degree or higher in Medical Physics from an accredited academic body.
    • Must be a graduate of a CAMPEP-approved residency program or hold equivalent work experience in radiation oncology physics.
    • Must be actively certified by the American Board of Radiology.
    • Must meet the registration requirements of 32 Illinois Administrative code section 410 for Therapeutic Radiological Physicists and be registered as an approved Therapeutic Radiological Physicist with the State of Illinois.
    • Must have well-developed organizational, interpersonal, & communication skills.
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Physicist; prior work in an academic medical facility is preferred.
    • Experience with Varian TrueBeam accelerators, Varian Aria OIS, Philips Pinnacle3 and Varian Eclipse TPS preferred.
