    Nurse Practitioner - Outpatient (Post-Kidney Transplant), Full-Time, Day Shift, University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL

     

    UChicago Medicine's Outpatient Post-Kidney Transplant Program is hiring a full-time Nurse Pracititioner (NP) at the main campus in Hyde Park, Illinois!

     

    Shift: Full-time, days, 5 x 8-hour shifts per week 

     

    The Nurse Practitioner is an advance practice nurse responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) you will manage a caseload of patients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice also includes family support, teaching, staff education, consultation and research. In this role you will provide direct support to post-kidney transplant patients in the outpatient clinical setting. 

     

    This individual utilizes advance practice skills obtained through the completion of a formal nurse practitioner program at an accredited college of nursing. These skills include advanced levels of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, as well as performing some invasive procedures. For this position, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for functions related to the clinical care and management of solid organ transplant patients and others with end-stage organ disease. The Nurse Practitioner is also responsible for planning, organizing, and directing patient care efforts in collaboration with medical and surgical physicians and other team members. You may be expected to hold independent clinics in this position. 

     

     

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's of Science in Nursing required
    • Graduate of a formal nurse practitioner program required
    • Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
    • Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration required
    • Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
    • Specialty certification as an advanced practice nurse (when available)

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Preferred candidates will have 2-5 years' experience working with transplant patients
    • A combination of transplant and other related nursing experience may be considered
