    Oncology Nurse Navigator, Job, Full-time, University of Chicago Medicine, Hyde Park, Illinois


    We’re hiring an Oncology Nurse Navigator for the stem cell and CAR T-cell programs for a full-time shift at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Illinois!

    Under the direction of a faculty sponsor and in collaboration with the program support team, the Oncology Nurse Navigator coordinates the care of patients through the disease process and acts as a clinical liaison for patients, across medical services and clinical departments. The Oncology Nurse Navigator evaluates and manages patient symptoms before during and after treatment.


    This position supports total care and coordination of stem cell and CAR T-cell patients, from stem cell collection, evaluation for transplant, clinic visits, transplant admission, quality and safety, outcomes monitoring and survivorship. 


    This individual will direct the coordination of care for stem cell transplant patients within the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and cellular therapies program. You will also be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of patient care including education, multidisciplinary referrals, data tracking, diagnostics, determining protocol eligibility, treatment orders, consents and other activities essential to the overall care of the patient. The Oncology Nurse Navigator participates in the conduct of clinical research trials including multi-centered cooperative group and intergroup trials at a national level, multi-institutional pharmaceutical trials and single and multi-centered trials.



    • Registered Nurse with a current Illinois license
    • Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing with BSN
    • Oncology Certified Nurse preferred. Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Provider preferred
    • Minimum of two years hematology/oncology clinical nursing experience with demonstrated clinical competence in patient care, teaching and management of patients with a cancer diagnosis, and knowledge about clinical aspects of oncology including protocol therapy and data management
    • Must have general computer skills and be adaptable to changing working situations and work assignments
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required, with specific ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and physicians


    • Illinois nursing license required 
    • OCN Certification preferred 
    • ONS Chemotherapy Provider preferred
