    Clinic Nurse II


    Department: 378362 – DERM PROCEDURES

    Shift: 40 hours per week (1.0) / Day Shift / 10-hour shifts

    Job Summary:

    Under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner, RN provides technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients which may include one or more of the following categories: sedation, intravenous infusions, complex procedures, e.g., lumbar puncture, cardiac catherization; This may also include specialized monitoring during procedure and recovery phase; The RN may have Charge Nurse responsibility for his/her assigned unit. 


    Job Qualifications:

    • RN Required
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Required
    • BLS and ACLS Certification
    • Experience with administering IV sedation (Versed, Fentanyl) under supervision
    • Phlebotomy experience
    • Where applicable, commit to acquiring laser hair removal training and certification within one year
    • Experience in oxygen administration via nasal cannula and face mask


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation
    • Performs a variety of clinical and research procedures with efficiency and high standards of quality; assures that the proper protocol is used for each sedation
    • Provides patient care in a compassionate and empathetic manner; demonstrates knowledge of age-specific considerations in the provision of care
    • Involves a multidisciplinary team as needed to support patient and family psychological, social and spiritual needs
    • Accurately completes required patient assessment, documentation, and interpretations for each patient encounter
    • Possesses sound professional judgment for timely physician intervention as needed
    • Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate actions, initiates appropriate life supporting interventions while communicating appropriately with physicians
    • Maintains nursing equipment and work areas in proper working condition; reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to the appropriate person
    • Interfaces with customers, specifically patients, families, visitors, and UCMC staff in a professional, positive and accommodating manner; demonstrates knowledge of AIDET principles and employs in all situations; demonstrates flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible
    • Performs all required Quality Assurance testing as indicated or as required by UCMC
    • Rotates to clinical areas as directed to assist in safe staffing ratios; utilizes resources to safely transport sedated patients to an appropriate or designated area within the UCMC
