    Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine. The Finance Department currently has an opportunity for a Finance Project Manager to support the enterprise Cost Accounting/Decision Support function.


    Job Summary


    In this role, the Project Manager plays a critical role determining the costs, revenues, and profitability of enterprise endeavors, including hospital and physician activity. The Project Manager is responsible for insuring the accuracy of daily data feeds and periodic financial reconciliations. The position orients, teaches, and provides direct support to system users.  The position prepares analyses for senior management. The Project Manager plays a critical role during software upgrades and when new business entities are added to the application.


    The position interacts very closely with the third party software vendor and acts as an interface between the vendor and CBIS. The Project Manager works closely with hospital and physician group finance counterparts. The position prepares analyses for and works with senior management and clinical leadership.


    Work Schedule:


    The position involves work on weekends and holidays to load and balance daily activity. This task is rotated among the members of the work group. The time effort is minimal (15 minutes per day) but happens 365 days/year. 


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

    • Supports the Finance Department with strategic projects and analysis.
    • Directs and manages project development. 
    • Works collaboratively with all finance team members, leaders, internal and external partners, and vendors to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
    • Develops full-scale project plans, financial plans, quality audit follow ups, and associated communications documents. 
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of simultaneous projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments and goals. 
    • Responsible for insuring the accuracy of reports and data, preparing analyses, and solving problems. 
    • Supports the development, analysis, and timely execution of meeting materials, reports, and digital files.
    • Manages timely execution of consulting engagements including tracking deliverables, ensuring smooth communication cross functionally, attending consultant meetings, and managing internal logistics.
    • Implements processes and practices to provide an ideal employee experience for all participants or users.

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent, Masters preferred.
    • 5 years of related relevant experience, preferably in health care or Finance. 


    • Extensive skill and practical use of software, web-based, and cloud-based applications. 
    • Requires knowledge of external information sources, and how to incorporate new elements into the knowledge base of the department.


    • Ability to develop insightful observations and recommendations for courses of action from the analysis of complex situations, and to relate those concepts clearly and effectively in both spoken and written form. 
    • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of administrative and medical staffs.  Also requires the ability to interact and facilitate among multidisciplinary teams to meet common goals and objectives. 
    • Ability to work on data from various sources and manage multiple projects at a time.  Able to prioritize and manage simultaneous projects across a healthcare system.
    • Exemplary communication and customer service skills with proven experience.
    • Detailed-oriented, process-focused, and highly professional.
