    Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine. The Information Services Department seeks a Nurse Educator, Clinical Information Systems to design and deliver classroom and electronic training on functionality of clinical systems.


    Job Summary


    In this role, the Nurse Educator, Clinical Information Systems is a nurse with previous educational experience preferred, whose focus is on staff development and nursing education. In addition: 

    • Will consultant, be a role model, staff/patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost effective professional
    • Designs develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of educational offerings and approaches in order to improve nurse’s use of technology for the achievement of clinical/organizational outcomes in collaboration with nursing leadership,
    • Utilizes all opportunities with staff to educate and optimize their use of information technology.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for designing and delivering classroom and electronic training on functionality of clinical systems
    • Support all activities related to new employee orientation
    • Provide informal clinical system training and support through at the elbow support, rounding, and resolving service incidents

    • Three (3) years of inpatient clinical practice.
    • Knowledge and previous application of adult learning principles
    • Demonstrated leadership skills evidenced by serving as a charge nurse, preceptor or episodic teacher
    • Demonstrates complex decision-making skills and problem solving abilities
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a larger audience
    • Technology focused individual with ability to obtain an Epic certification
    • Comfort speaking to clinicians to problem solve issues



    • Bachelor's Degree, Nursing (BSN)
    • Previous experience working within multidisciplinary teams or nursing leadership committees
    • Previous experience in a role as an educator
    • Previous experience using an electronic medical record (EMR)
    • Knowledge and previous use of computer-based training (CBT) modules
    • Certification in specialty area preferred 



    • License: Current RN Illinois license
    • Will consider other strong candidates without nursing degree such as OR tech.
