A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a Master's prepared nurse with APN Illinois licensure who has an advanced knowledge base in a selected clinical area of nursing. For this position, in addition to being the expert clinician in Oncology, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is also an educator, consultant, researcher, role model, patient advocate, change agent, and leader. In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides clinical expertise and support to improve patient care and outcomes. The Clinical Nurse Specialist elevates the standard of professional nursing practice at UCM by developing, coaching and mentoring staff to become leaders.
