    Clinical Nurse Specialist - Oncology (Inpatient and Clinic), Full-Time, Day Shift, University of Chicago Medicine, Hyde Park, Chicago, IL

     

    We're hiring a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology (Inpatient and Clinic) in a full-time, day shift at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL!

     

    A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a Master's prepared nurse with APN Illinois licensure who has an advanced knowledge base in a selected clinical area of nursing. For this position, in addition to being the expert clinician in Oncology, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is also an educator, consultant, researcher, role model, patient advocate, change agent, and leader. In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides clinical expertise and support to improve patient care and outcomes. The Clinical Nurse Specialist elevates the standard of professional nursing practice at UCM by developing, coaching and mentoring staff to become leaders.

     

    Required Qualifications:

     

    Education:

    • Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited program required; DNP or PhD preferred
    • Certification in a specialty area required; advanced certification preferred
    • Application for Credentialing
    • Application for Privileges and Delineation of Privileges, as applicable
    • Collaborative agreement with UCM physician
    • DEA privileges, if applicable
    • Two Letters of Recommendation
    • Coding and Compliance Training, as applicable

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in clinical specialty area
    • Previous experience in advanced practice role preferred
    • Demonstrates ability to be self-directed
    • Demonstrates clinical competence, effective leadership and excellent teaching skills.
    • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective communication with personnel from Patient Services and other disciplines

     

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Current Illinois RN license
    • Current Illinois APN/CNS license
