    Department: 370708 - CANCER CARE ACCESS HUB

    Shift: Full-Time (1.0) / Day Shift / 8-hr Shift / 9am-5:30pm

    University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) is currently seeking a New Patient Coordinator in Burr Ridge, Illinois! Enjoy an exciting career opportunity to work for one of the nation’s best hospitals! We are looking for a qualified professional with excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. 

    Under general direction, serves as the first point-of-contact for patients and physicians to coordinate services with UCM medical professionals, ancillary services, BSD, and hospital offices/staff. Provides administrative services, data analysis, and customer service to facilitate efficient and effective processes for patients to access various services within the hospital. Provides guidance to patients through the evaluation process, works with various departments to ensure patients complete their itineraries, revises and communicates itinerary changes as required.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school required, 2 years’ experience in a hospital or medical setting preferred
    • Certification in Medical Terminology preferred. Experience in patient advocacy preferred
    • Experience working with various Microsoft based computer software programs for Excel and Word required, experience using Mac preferred
    • Knowledge of scheduling templates, insurance verification, and third party collection procedures
    • Knowledge of hospital billing and collection processes
    • Ability to perform basic data analysis
    • Ability to solve problems independently, performs multiple tasks simultaneously, exercise good judgment, and work effectively in a team environment
    • Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers, supervisors, and physicians to best serve the patients
    • Ability to learn and incorporate new systems and processes
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills requiring tact, discretion, and maintaining patient confidentiality
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to attend mandatory training classes offered by the Medical Center after hours or on weekends, with advance notice
