    We are seeking a Supervisor for the Gross Room and Autopsy Services for a full time position in Hyde Park, IL


    The Supervisor oversees effective and efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide gross dissection and autopsy services. Defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards. Collaborates daily with the Manager of Anatomic Pathology, Medical Director of Gross Pathology, Medical Director of Autopsy Pathology, Medical Director of the Human Tissue Resource Center (HTRC), and the Medical Director of Anatomic Pathology. Plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. In support of the Pathology Residency program, provides the primary training in Anatomic Pathology for Resident Pathologists. Oversees the training activities associated with the Pathologists’ Assistant Student Training Program.



    • Master’s degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification is required.
    • 5 years of experience working as a Certified Pathologists' Assistant is required. Management experience or related experience preferred.  
    • Ability to write laboratory procedures and policies.
    • Ability to train, supervise, and provide leadership in a team oriented management structure.  
    • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and laboratory/hospital information systems. Proven ability to use computers for data entry, retrieval, and statistical analysis.
    • Ability to interact appropriately with pathologists, pathology residents, other health care professionals, and laboratory colleagues.
    • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
    • Ability to handle large volumes of work within narrow timeframes, outstanding organizational ability and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a stressful situation.
    • Ability to stand, stretch, sit, or bend for extended periods of time.

    License and Certifications

    • Pathologists’ Assistant American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification is required.
