    Location: Hyde Park and Offsite Clinics

    Shift: Full-Time (1.0) / Day Shift / 8-hr Shifts

    The Radiation Therapy Manager ensures the Radiation Therapy team adheres to medical center and department guidelines and processes; collaborates with department staff and other medical center disciplines to coordinate radiation therapy treatment; provides guidance to staff therapist on technical procedures and operation of therapeutic equipment; manages the development of therapy standard work guidelines and processes; ensures an integrated and coordinated management of the Department’s technical personnel in the delivery of patient care services; participates as a member of the Department’s Operation Committee, with primary authority and responsibility for technology-related matters. 

     

    Responsibilities include:

    • Direct and provide leadership for the radiotherapy technical personnel working at UChicago Medicine. Responsibilities include personnel recruitment, evaluation, training, and termination
    • Prepare annual operating budgets, for patient care services delivered by the respective staffs. This includes preparing monthly variance analyses and related statistical management reports to maintain control over labor and supply expenditures.
    • Develop new clinical techniques and protocols in concert with the Radiotherapy medical staff and ensure effective implementation of those techniques and protocols in the clinical setting, through in-service education and cross-training of technical personnel.
    • Compliance with Joint Commission accreditation standards and other external agency standards, and/or licensing requirements. This includes formulation and documentation of policies and procedures as they relate to technical issues and methodologies.
    • Ensure appropriate staff coverage and technical proficiency in handling after hours medical emergencies in all Department locations.
    • Provide technical input into the Joint Department’s long-range planning and program development.
    • Routinely monitor Joint Department’s patient care process to ensure optimal delivery of services at the least cost.
    • To establish and maintain technical and clinical data collection techniques in support of management analyses, medical record integrity and quality assurance.
    • Establish technical productivity standards in order to optimize personnel deployment and utilization of therapy equipment.
    • Maintain effective working relationships between technical personnel, medical staff, and physics staff.
    • Participate in radiotherapy capital equipment evaluation and selection process.

     

    Required Qualifications

    • AART registered or registry eligible.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
    • Master’s degree desirable.
    • Minimum 5 years Radiation Oncology management experience, in an academic medical center environment. Demonstrated ability to function in a matrix management structure.
