    Assistant Director, Perioperative and Procedural Programs, OR Administration, Full-Time, Day Shift, University of Chicago Medicine, Hyde Park, Chicago, IL

     

    We're hiring an Assistant Director, Perioperative and Procedural Programs for the OR Administration department in a full-time, day Shift at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Illinois!

     

    This role provides clinical and operational leadership along with strategic planning of Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology, Gastrointestinal Lab, Center for Endoscopic Research and Therapeutics (CERT), Bronchoscopy and Prep-Recovery to include revenue enhancement, cost reduction and control, capital budgeting, and operations budgeting. This role is also responsible for the projects for all of Perioperative and Procedural services using LEAN process redesign/improvement and work flow/logistics analysis. This role will lead an interdepartmental collaborative relationship between Perioperative /Procedural Services and other related departments (i.e. Radiology and Interventional Radiology).

     

    Responsibilities: 

     

    • Develops and implements training and competence assurance programs for Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology, Gastrointestinal Procedural Lab, CERT, Bronchoscopy Procedural Lab and Center for Care and Discovery (CCD) 5 Prep-Recovery.
    • Designs and implements process and quality improvement initiatives, leads related teams, tracks progress and metrics, and delivers results in specific timeframes.
    • Oversees usage of and compliance with policies and standards, including the UCMC policies, Joint Commission (JC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
    • Participates in and leads patient experience-related initiatives.
    • Participates in and leads performance improvement projects as needed, e.g. implementation of Preparedness Task Force work plans and Policy and Protocol documentation.
    • Coaches, develop, and manage process improvement teams.
    • Acts as a change agent and systematically drives and implements changes.
    • Provides a strategic level of leadership and professional project and management throughout the lifecycle of a project to deliver a completed product and/or service.
    • Provides detailed planning, including project structure and staffing, estimating, resource allocation and assignment, detailed scheduling, critical path analysis, and coordination for a project throughout its lifecycle.
    • Assesses, plans for, and manages project risks, including mitigation plans and contingency plans, issues, escalations, and problem resolution.
    • Identifies, develops, and implements key metrics to measure process performance and opportunity.
    • Applies rigorous analytical skills and persuasive leadership skills to improvement efforts.
    • Able to manages multiple high-complexity projects and teams concurrently.
    • Influences and communicates with all levels of management.
    • Supports through teaching and coaching the process improvement training efforts.
    • Communicates results of quality monitoring along with methods or corrective action where necessary and positive reinforcement for outstanding performance.
    • Establishes personal yearly objectives and facilitates the establishment of objectives for assigned performance improvement teams, which are consistent with the philosophy and goals of Perioperative and Procedural Services.

    • Determines own professional needs through on-going self-assessment and evaluation of total performance and assumes the responsibility for meeting those needs.
    • Actively participates in professional organizational activities.
    • Belongs to appropriate professional and/or specialty organizations.

     

    Required Qualifications 

     

    • Bachelor’s degree required
      • Master’s Degree strongly preferred
    • Registered Nurse (RN)
      • 3-4 years Procedural Area Experience as a Registered Nurse required
    • Minimum of 4-5  years of  health care leadership experience
    • High level of proven team leadership and analytical skills
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute multiple engagements simultaneously
    • Facilitation and presentation skills
    • High level of energy and enthusiasm
    • Proven software competencies (Excel, Power Point)
    • Flexible/adaptable – ability to work with diverse group of healthcare professionals in a matrix environment
