    Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine. The Information Systems Department is looking for self-starter Domain Architect who is effective working with large development teams in a highly collaborative healthcare environment.


    In this role, the Domain Architect Data will play a dual role of ensuring compliance with Architecture Governance and as a data architect, on projects that will require data modelling architecture work. 

    In additional, will:

    • Collaborate with business and data SME’s to profile source system data and perform logical mapping of source data into target data warehouse models, based on the existing business process and data/reporting requirements
    • Create conceptual and logical data models, typically for the purpose of extending an existing 3NF or Conformed Dimensional Model, and to define and implement custom data marts
    • Drive data analysis and modeling efforts (conceptual, logical and physical models), either as the lead modeler, sole modeler, or as member of a team of data modelers/architects, as appropriate given the specific project situation and team makeup
    • Assist in the architecture, design and development of overall Data Warehouse and ETL architecture definition, vision, and supporting artifacts required to communicate the vision and design
    • Establish, communicate and enforce best practices and standards
    • Mentor and provide oversight to less senior members of the team

    Here is what you will do:

    • Knowledge/expertise of healthcare provider data model (HCPDM) and ability to provide SME to organization to deliver effective solutions
    • Create & maintain enterprise data model for Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
    • Create & maintain data structures for TIBCO Active Spaces
    • Perform data discovery analysis and profiling
    • Communicate and enforce best practices and standards 

    Core Skills:

    • Experience working with Healthcare Provider (clinical) data, including an understanding of the clinical processes which create this data
    • Experience working with data and interaction with EPIC
    • Experience performing data discovery, analysis and profiling
    • Experience understanding, working with, and extending complex data models, both relational and dimensional data models
    • Experience creating logical source-to-target mappings which can be used by data integration engineers to write ETL/ELT to populate an enterprise data warehouse
    • Very strong SQL query language skills
    • Business and technical requirements elicitation, analysis and elaboration a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong consulting and customer relationship skills
    • Knowledge of ETL and Business Intelligence processes and architectures
    • Deep knowledge of Healthcare Provider clinical data
    • Leverage the enterprise data model to define the data structures for the enterprise real time platform. 

    Tools & Technologies:

    • SQL interpreters: Toad, Embarcadero, or equivalent; must have very strong SQL skills
    • Data modeling tools: InfoSphere Data Architect, Erwin, or equivalent
    • Data Analysis & Profiling: IBM Information Analyzer, Informatica Data Analyzer
    • Database Management System exposure: Netezza, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2, Oracle
    • ETL Tools: IBM DataStage, SSIS

    What you will need for this position:



    • 2+ years recent experience working with Healthcare Provider (clinical) data
    • 4+ years recent experience working on data integration and warehousing projects
    • 4+ years recent experience working as a data analyst and modeler, including experience creating Relational (3NF) models, Dimensional models (Star, Snowflakes)
    • Expert SQL query language skills
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Experience gathering and elaborating business and technical requirements
