  • Job Description

    We’re hiring for an Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN), for Mitchell ED Nights, in Chicago – Hyde Park.

     

    The Assistant Patient Care Manager will be responsible and accountable for over-seeing the operations of a designated Care Center on her/his respective shift. The Patient Care manager retains 24/7 accountability. Duties include directing delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a financially responsible manner. This is in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Care Center Patient Care Managers and Clinical Director.

     

    The Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN) will be a crucial part of the new Level I Trauma center. A trauma center is a state-certified hospital that has the specialized staff and equipment to treat victims of traumatic injury. Designated trauma centers are hospitals that are specially equipped to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical services to trauma victims. Trauma centers are typically classified as Level 1, 2 or 3 based on the resources, equipment and specialists provided, as well as the trauma volume and research and educational commitment.

     

    Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN), Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher, Master’s degree preferred.
    • Current Illinois RN license
    • Ability to effectively communicate
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to maintain an open network of communication among staff members, care center and sector leadership, and other health care professionals and departments.
    • Minimum of two years ED experience preferred.
    • Charge Nurse experience with demonstrated leadership skills required.
    • Level I Trauma experience preferred. 

     

    As an Assistant Patient Care Manager in a Level I Trauma Center, your role is vital. Trauma care will require the involvement of the right people (including those who perform functions outside of the Emergency Department), new and revised policies and protocols, programs that will be new to UCMC, a heightened level of teamwork, and new and refined systems of care.
