Nurse Practitioner, Manager
Shift: 40 hours per week (1.0) / 8 hour day shifts
The Nurse Practitioner Manager is an advanced practice nurse responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management who also supervises other nurse practitioners and serves as a collaborative member of the unit-based leadership model. The nurse practitioner manages a caseload of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice includes family support, discharge planning, staff education, consultation and research. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the nurse practitioner manager will have direct supervision for other nurse practitioners. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the nurse practitioner manager will also have direct managerial oversight for the nurse practitioners in the care area. In conjunction with the patient care manager and medical director, the nurse practitioner manager has responsibility and accountability for planning, organizing and directing the activities related to patient care on the designated unit.
The manager over this area will be responsible for: Adult Emergency, Trauma and Surgery, Short Stay, Chronic Disease, and Heart Failure.
Graduate degree in nursing with a major focus on adult care
Graduate of a formal nurse practitioner program (Physician Assistant acceptable)
Specialty certification as an advanced practice nurse (when available)
Completion of AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course
Licensed Registered nurse in the state of Illinois
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in adult nursing
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience as an advanced practice provider
