    Medical Assistant, Interventional Endoscopy, Full-Time, Day Shift (8-hour shifts), University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL


    We're hiring a Medical Assistant for the Interventional Endoscopy department in a Full-Time, Day Shift (8-hour shifts) at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL!

    Responsibilities include:

    • Know and practice the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Pride Values and Patient Centered Care Definition and Principles.
    • Perform any or all duties as assigned by the registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the Nursing policies and procedures.
    • Appropriately implement and document patient and family education as delegated by the RN or physician.
    • Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Obtain patient charts and other medical records from referring physicians both internal and external.
    • Schedule patient procedures.
    • Follow up with patients post procedure.
    • Exemplary attention to detail required.
    • Considerable skill in communicating verbally and in writing, in determining priorities and in organizing work; ability to maintain an organized and fast paced procedure area.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body is required.
    • Must have a current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
    • Must have experience working in a hospital/community health setting with a strong background in working in a busy procedure unit with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
    • Position requires completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants that is recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • Ability to multitask a must.
    • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
    • Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers and physicians.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • General working knowledge of PC. Excel, Microsoft Word for windows, OASIS and EPIC a plus.
    • Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
