    Join one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers UChicago Medicine in a newly created and dynamic role as the Executive Director, Organizational Climate. You will have the opportunity to drive enterprise wide practices that influence attitudes, feelings and behaviors which characterize UChicago Medicine and drive value in the employee experience.  You’ll oversee work environment initiatives and lead a growing team of change, culture and labor professionals across the UChicago Medicine enterprise in order to shape the quality of the work environment, and the relationship between UChicago Medicine and its employees.

     

    We are seeking an executive thought leader experienced in driving bold and provocative strategies that can impact and enhance our current work environment.  In this role, you will report directly to our Chief Human Resources Officer and have the opportunity to influence how we demonstrate UChicago Medicine pride and further capture the hearts and minds of our highly valued and dedicated employees.

     

    Partner alongside senior HR leadership within a creative and forward-thinking HR department and maintain strong alignment with the business needs and objectives to help drive creativity and innovation, flexibility, appreciation and recognition, information-sharing, employee well-being, empowerment and learning and development.

     

    Other responsibilities include:

     

    • Identify and support what makes employees thrive both professionally and personally at work.
    • Reinforce a culture of trust, respect and candor, one which represents our values
    • Encourage the use of development and feedback as a part of everyday conversation between leaders and employees.
    • Focus on the power of individual differences and on bringing out the best in each other through shared communication, trust, celebration, respect, continuous improvement and responsible autonomy.
    • Promote learning from mistakes as a part of the process of growth.
    • Develop initiatives that help ensure a sense of belonging for employees.
    • Direct workplace environmental assessments to determine what supports or hinders workplace health.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of labor relations strategies to meet the changing needs of UChicago Medicine and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws governing employment practices.
    • Identify strategies for the development and delivery of training and in-service education in connection with labor relations and workplace environment practices.

        

    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology or equivalent field from an accredited academic body.
    • Juris Doctorate is required.
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources with a solid understanding of the drivers of organizational climate.
    • A proven track record of strengthening organizational climate and workplace environments.
    • Solid understanding and experience in organizational effectiveness, change management and labor relations, including experience managing arbitration, union contracts, and negotiations is required.
    • In-depth knowledge of local, state, & federal laws pertaining to employment practices.
