    Physician Assistant, Robotic Cardiac Surgery, Job, Full-time (40 hours/week), Rotating Shifts, University of Chicago Medicine, Hyde Park, Illinois

     

    We're hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) for Robotic Cardiac Surgery on full-time rotating shifts at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois!

     

    The Physician Assistant (PA) is qualified by academic and clinical education to provide healthcare and patient services. The PA has acquired the knowledge, skills and judgment necessary to assist the physician / surgeon through organized instruction and supervised practice. This licensed health professional will take patient histories, conduct examinations, diagnose illnesses, pre-and post-operative patient evaluation, order and interpret laboratory tests and assist during complicated operations. The PA exercises autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. 

     

    In the Physician Assistant (PA) role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to departmental policies and procedures, objectives, the quality assurance program and safety and environmental control procedures. Follow through in the patient care setting via effective communication and collaboration with health care providers is a responsibility you will frontline as the Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant will also aid in the design and implementation of nursing protocols in the hospitals where relevant to Robotic Cardiac Surgery Nursing.

     

    This is the only comprehensive robotic cardiac surgery program in the country (world) and the candidate we accept for this position would join a very elite group of practitioners who practice robotic heart surgery, and learn skills and assist in procedures not available in any other program.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited (physician assistant) educational program required.
    • Minimum of two to five years’ experience with cardiac surgical procedures; surgical training required in a related clinical area or of related clinical specialties
      • Experience in robotics and minimally invasive surgery preferred 
    • Experience using automated IS including but not limited to: keyboards, computer terminals, telephones, battery-operated devices, heat-copying devices, and automated dispensing machines.

     

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Certification in ACLS required
    • Certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required
    • Current and/or eligibility for: State of Illinois licensure/registration required
