    Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine. The Information Systems (CBIS) Department currently seeks a savvy Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer Intermediate to develop or modify in-house developed applications and or programs.

    Job Summary

    In this role the Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer Intermediate, formulates and defines project scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify in-house developed applications and/or programs. 

    • Competent to work on most phases of application development lifecycle activities that include: Design, Code, but requires instruction and guidance in other phases of the project development lifecycle, such as Analysis, Test, and Conversion. 
    • Responsible for documenting and supporting these in-house developed applications and/or programs.
    • Develop, configure and support Integration components using TIBCO integration platform BW, EMS, CEP, etc.   

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Develop, unit tests, debugs, documents, and maintains TIBCO integration components
    • Provides Tier 2 & 3 end user support, works with vendors and infrastructure team members to support more complex level 3 issues
    • Participates in projects leveraging a mature SDLC from analysis & requirements documentation, design, test plan development, testing and launch of applicable system elements
    • Thinks strategically using data to drive decisions and solutions.
    • May perform research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems
    • Participate in scheduled weekend and evening oncall support rotation.
    • Mentors and trains colleagues on methodology during the process and throughout the project life cycle.

    • Prepares detailed design specifications
    • Participates in system development lifecycle activities as assigned:  design, code, test and debug, document and maintain these programs with general supervision
    • Competent to work on most phases of application systems analysis and programming activities, but requires instruction and guidance in other phases
    • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of methodologies and standards as established through the Project Management Office (PMO)
    • Troubleshoots application system problems and makes improvements as needed
    • Occasionally receives calls from users to resolve urgent software or hardware related problems.  Supports team members by providing data to evaluate, design and investigate enhancements to information systems and satisfy business needs
    • Analyzes and implements/develops solutions for production or testing problems, seeks support when necessary
    • Identifies and documents standards for operating the application or program
    • Follows and implements change control standards and procedure 
    • Installs new code and upgrades to existing applications and/ or programs
    • Monitors and performs maintenance on internal and external interfaces
    • Participates in integrated systems testing, problem identification and resolution

    • Associate, BS or   BA degree, in computer science or technical area preferred, or equivalent training or work experience
    • Two (2) years of directly applicable experience in systems analysis, programming and technical design Minimum one (1) year experience in technical documentation writing
    • Proven skills in problem solving
    • Must work well in a team environment and be able to partner with both business and technical team members
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills required
    • Experience in a health care environment helpful
    • Proficiency in the programming language /tools used in the position required 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Understanding Soap, RESTFul, FHIR services, Message Queue
    • Basic understanding of HL7 standards
