    Transplant Nurse - Liver, Job, Full-time, 1st Shift (days), University of Chicago Medicine, Hyde Park, Illinois

      

    We're hiring a liver Transplant Nurse coordinator at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Hyde Park, Illinois!

     

    The Transplant Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care throughout the transplant process, and is responsible for advanced nursing functions related to the clinical care and management of liver transplant patients, and others with advanced liver disease. In this role, you are accountable for planning, organizing, and directing patient care efforts in collaboration with Liver Transplant physicians and other program specialists.

     

    As a Transplant Nurse, you will coordinate the clinical management of patients during the liver transplant evaluation and waitlist phases. Based on the specific work group, the Transplant Nurse's responsibilities may encompass the pre-transplant, peri-transplant/inpatient, post-transplant, or all phases of transplant care. The Transplant Nurse will also provide care and assistance for patients with hepatobiliary malignancy who are referred to the Liver Tumor Clinic. This new team member may be required to also assist with other patient care needs identified within the transplantation institute.

     

     

    Required Qualifications:

    • BSN required; Master's in Nursing preferred
    • Must possess excellent decision-making and communication skills
    • Must possess effective teaching skills in working with undergraduate and post-graduate nursing students, as well as good presentation skills
    • Must possess basic computer skills
    • Must be familiar with insurance coverage and managed care contracts as regards coverage for transplant patients and donors, if applicable

     

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Preferred candidates will have two years' experience working with transplant patients
    • A combination of transplant and other related nursing experience may be considered


    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
